I am still developing styles and pursuing deep learning when it comes to photography. I really want to work out an intrinsic personal style which I can then use to shoot all of the subjects that I am interested in. This really doesn’t come overnight and so I have to work at finding this style.
In some ways I already know what style and way of shooting I want to go after. Particularly the ocean. I know, because I have spent hours upon hours photographing it, what makes it look interesting.
Some other things I am far less experienced at. Portraiture being that. There are some ideas that I am trying to propagate that entangle my love for the ocean with portraiture. I’d love to work toward a photobook of some sort or something that bridges the gap between fine art photography and documentary style storytelling.
The journey is long and steps are small. I am and will work on those things in due course. For now these pictures were made with a little idea I had about stringing up a sheet on the washing line. Pretty basic and easy to do. The weather lined up beautifully and away we were. My partner volunteered to model.
I love monochrome styles as well as pictures and couldn’t resist to edit them in this way. I find i often lean into black and white. I really don’t know why.
Thanks as always for being here and taking the time to follow my work. It means alot.
Thanks Michael. Yeah it’s something I really wanna explore more to be honest. I think the impostor syndrome is big on that. I need to really get over this as it’s something I’d love to do more of.
This is a great series of portraits. I love the simple setup and the comfortable feel of the photos. The last photo with the blurred elements in the foreground is particularly nice IMO. Thanks for sharing these.
